Boston, Mass. –Larry Newman, long time announcer for three seasons of NEICAAA Championship events, was presented the Scott Davis Announcing Award from the Track & Field Writers Association (TAFWA). He received the award at the finish line during the New Balance Indoor National Scholastic Championships on Sunday.
A loyal Northeastern University alum, Newman has served as the voice of
the Greater Boston TC and Commonwealth Invitational meets. several high
school leagues, and has assisted announcers for various major collegiate
championships held in the Boston area. Beyond his announcing contributions, Newman has compiled and maintained many statistical and historical lists for the NEICAAA and Massachusetts.
The award, first presented in 2011, recognizes the outstanding work of current track announcers and is named in honor of the late Scott Davis, a longtime TAFWA member and track announcer.
