Amherst, MA — May 7, 2025 — In response to heavy rain and thunderstorm forecasts for Friday and ongoing flood warnings in the region, the NEICAAA Outdoor Championship meet has been officially condensed into a one-day event. The meet will now take place entirely on Saturday, May 10, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
After consulting with UMass staff and the NEICAAA Seeding Committee, the NEICAAA Executive Committee concluded that holding Friday events as originally scheduled would compromise the safety and competitive integrity of the meet. A Saturday-Sunday format was ruled out due to unavailability of essential support personnel, including officials and timing staff.
The revised schedule features a full slate of events across both track and field disciplines, with an emphasis on maintaining championship quality while streamlining operations.
Track events will kick off at 10:00 a.m. with the women's and men’s 10,000 meters, followed by the 5,000 meters, sprints, hurdles, and middle-distance races. Notably, all races typically requiring preliminary rounds—such as the 100m, 200m, 400m, and hurdles—will be run as finals only.
Field events also begin at 10:00 a.m. with javelin, long jump, pole vault, hammer, and shot put. The high jump and discus throw are slated for the afternoon.
Athletes, coaches, and spectators are encouraged to review the full revised schedule and listen closely to on-site announcements, as field event times remain approximate and subject to adjustments.
This change ensures the safety of all participants and allows the NEICAAA Championships to maintain a high level of competition under challenging circumstances.
