Medford, MA (May 28, 2024) – Director of Athletics John Morris announced today that after nine years with the Jumbos, Joel Williams has stepped down as the Head Coach for Tufts Men's Track & Field and Cross Country. During his tenure at Tufts, Williams coached five NCAA individual champions, 42 NESCAC Champions, 25 All Americans and over 500 NESCAC All-Academic Team honorees.
"We are grateful for all of Joel's contributions to the Tufts Men's Track & Field/Cross Country program and for his support and leadership of the Jumbo student-athletes he coached over the past nine years," said Morris. "We wish Joel the very best in his future endeavors."
Hired in November 2015, Williams led Tufts to two New England Division III Indoor Championships (2017 and 2018) and three NESCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships (2022, 2023, 2024). Four of Williams' teams finished ranked among the Top 20 at the NCAA Track & Field Championships.
